Mirrors are often distorted. However, camera phones tend to be low resolution and not very reliable in capturing an image. My advice is, look into several mirrors and compare. You won't vary more than a few pounds from mirror to mirror or camera to camera, so it should give you a good take on how 'big' you truly are. Never trust home videos because they add 10 lbs. However, a digital camera should give you a good idea of what you look like. Try using a digital camera and take a picture of yourself direcly, or have someone take it. Chances are, your body is being distorted if you are going through the camera and the mirror because it is a double image transfer. The mirror is more direct-single distortion or the camera on its own, not through the mirror.

Basically what i'm saying is, the more relections you are capturing, the less reliable....so if it is mirror or camera phone on the mirror, id say mirror.

when you record yourself are you standing at the same angle as you are when you look in the mirror? on some social networking sites you see young girls taking photos in mirrors to 'prove' that they are skinny, when actually they are just standing at a very flattering angle that makes them look slim. i'd recommend putting your camera/camera phone on self timer and taking a series of shots from different angles so you can see all round your body. also take photos in the mirror.

I would trust a mirror more than a phone camera because it is you and not stretched out in a mirror and in a camera phone it is more blurry than a mirror

Go with neither. Sometimes mirrors are magnify and make you look fat, same goes with cameras specially from phones. Your best bet is the mirror!

Camera adds pounds. Mirror. But really you should judge by how your clothes are fitting.

I think you should rely on a mirror.

because a picture, especially one taken by a cellphone... is not as clear as a mirror. It hides flaws. hehe

I have the same problem!!!! Personally, I think that it's the glare from the camera, but check in the mirror before you take a picture. You might be (ewww) sweating, or wearing some sort of lotion.
Start carrying around a handheld mirror, and you can compare. Also ask your trustworthy friends about it.

If you use make up, use mineral makeup. I use bare minerals and it is great. even if you use liquid make up to cover pimples or discoloration, still put a light layer of mineral makeup on . It makes your skin tone look a lot more even in harsh light.

Hope this helps :)
